The Great Lakes offer divers the opportunity to visit some of the most well- preserved shipwrecks in the world! Come along with Brass Anchor Scuba Center to Lake Erie and observe three wooden wrecks dating back to the 1800s, and two steel freighters. The old style of shipbuilding is astonishing to see.
Before and during the construction of railways and roads, the Great Lakes were used by trading partners around the world to ship goods internationally. Due to the treacherous weather and travel conditions, over 30,000 lives have been lost. Thus, 6,000 shipwrecks were left behind.
Due to the fresh water and cold environment, shipwrecks in the Great Lakes are well-preserved and are, for the most part, intact.
